Peace in the Home. Peace in the Community. Peace in the World.

Welcome!

We are a small non-profit agency whose mission statement is to create peace in the home, peace in the community, and peace in the world through our mental health services. We believe that the only way to move forward in life is to heal the wounds of the past. This is true in our own lives, within our families, in our community, and in the world. Life Counseling is committed to help people heal, embrace and face their lives with confidence, and live more peaceful lives.

Peace in the Home

From healing past traumas, to working through anxiety, depression, or relationships in the home, we are committed to helping you be more at peace with yourself and with others around you. We fully recognize that if we want a more peaceful world, it starts in the home on a small scale. If you have been haunted by bad memories, hurt by loved ones or have been desperate to be at peace with yourself, you are at the right place. Let us help you heal the wounds to that you can experience all that life has to offer you.

Peace in the Community

We also specialize in helping people solve problems between one another. Whether it is a neighborhood disagreement, a bar conversation that got too heated and ended in blows, or a family that is fighting, we are here to help. We have groups that you can join including anger management and violence intervention programs. Call today to start your journey to end the conflict in your life.

Peace in the World

Our counselors have traveled to Rwanda, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of Congo to teach lay leaders and counselors about the importance of mental health in healing the wounds of the past. We have also developed a longer-term partnership with THARS (Trauma Healing and Reconciliation Services) in Burundi. Their founder, Dr. David Niyonzima, provided a series trainings for Oregon-based counselors on collective trauma and collective healing in October 2024. We are excited to see where this partnership will take us!

Life with THARS

In January of 2020, Sandra visited her long-time professional colleague Dr. David Niyonzima, who is the Founder and Executive Director of Trauma Healing and Reconciliation Services (THARS). In 2020, Sandra taught a conference to 20 of their counselors on how to heal violence and promote healthy relationships as well as a section on how to raise children without using violence. Those 20 counselors are now working throughout Burundi healing relationships and promoting peaceful practices.

After the last conference in 2020, Sandra was invited again in January of 2024 by Dr. Niyonzima and his staff to teach more about Positive Parenting.
