Philosophy and Approach

First and foremost, I practice from a holistic perspective, honoring the belief that every part of you matters and is deeply interconnected. Your physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, cultural, and relational health all contribute to your overall wellbeing. In our sessions, we will explore the many parts that make you who you are, addressing challenges in a way that aligns with your specific hopes and goals. This work is fundamentally collaborative, and I believe you should always have the primary say in what your unique healing journey looks like.

Another essential aspect of my philosophy is understanding the contexts that have shaped your life and the systems of power at play within them. We will take an intentional look at your culture and the environments where you may have adopted certain mindsets or behaviors. By drawing from Relational-Cultural Theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy,  and Narrative Therapy, we can better understand these external influences, allowing you to reclaim your power and discover your authentic voice throughout the therapeutic process. My goal is to support you in moving toward a more thriving, empowered, and self-defined life.

Lastly, I believe that learning the language of our emotions is a critical bridge to healing. Together, we will work to understand what your emotions are signaling and how they manifest within your physical body. By leaning on Emotion-Focused Therapy and Gestalt Therapy, we can stay present with these feelings as they arise in our sessions, learning to move through them with respect, empathy, and acceptance. Through this process, you can develop a deeper sense of self-understanding and emotional groundedness.

Formal Education and Training

I am a graduate student intern working towards my Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at George Fox University, a CACREP accredited program. In addition to my master’s degree, I am also seeking a Postgraduate Certificate in Trauma-Informed Care with the Trauma Response Institute at George Fox University. I also have a BA in Religious Studies from Vanguard University and twelve years of work experience in religious institutions and higher education.

As a biracial (Filipino American), bisexual, cisgender woman living in a large, brown body, I bring a deeply intersectional and social justice-oriented lens to my practice. My work is survivor-centered and rooted in my own lived experience with trauma, body discrimination, and the complexities of healing. I am a dedicated advocate for the LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities, practicing from feminist and Relational-Cultural perspectives that prioritize Health at Every Size (HAES) and an embodiment lifestyle. As an artist and musician, I believe in the transformative power of creative expression and strive to create a safe, empowered space where you can feel at home in your own body as you reclaim your voice and your life.
