Philosophy and Approach

Every person is involved in relationships that intertwine us with humanity as a whole. We cannot happily exist without relationships and the connections we have to others. I also believe that people are innately good and have hope in their lives, but we are also heavily influenced by our circumstances and the people around us. Counseling is a way for individuals, couples, and families to make and process change as we navigate life. Change is a constant part of life and sometimes we need additional support in coping with change as it affects our minds, hearts, and relationships. My goal is to support my clients throughout the challenges they face in life by focusing on strengths, experience, and application of coping skills.

I primarily use a client-centered, strength-based approach and utilize CBT, Play Therapy, and Experiential Therapy. I find this approach to best suit the integration of how our thoughts and emotions intersect when we are faced with challenges and allows me to utilize both in helping my clients adapt and overcome difficulties. I am interested in working with children, teens, adults, couples and families.

Formal Education and Training

I am a graduate student in the Marriage, Couple, and Family Therapy program at Lewis & Clark College and will graduate in May of 2027. After graduating I will be working towards my licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist. I earned my Bachelor of Science in both Psychology and Social Science and minored in Sociology at Portland State University.

Prior to my graduate studies I worked with children and families experiencing grief at The Dougy Center, here I learned to adapt my approach according to client needs and to support not only emotional needs, but practical needs as well. Additionally, during my time at Lewis & Clark, I have had the opportunity to work in a public school setting as a student therapist, where I led a social-emotional learning group for middle schoolers. Both of these experiences have sparked my passion for working with both children and families and have accelerated my interest in working with all different age groups and backgrounds.
